Allan Armitage is a professor of Horticulture at the University of Georgia. An award-winning author and prolific speaker and writer, he is the author of eleven books on garden topics, including, Herbaceous Garden Perennials, a Treatise of Identification, Culture and Garden Attributes now in its third edition, Armitage’s Native Plants for North American Gardens, Armitage’s Manual of Annuals, Biennials and Half Hardy Perennials, and the Photographic Encyclopedia of Herbaceous Plants, which includes approximately 7200 photos of cultivars and species of annuals, perennials, bulbs, ferns and cut flowers. Dr. “A” has appeared regularly on Smart Gardening TV, and serves as a guest correspondent for the popular Victory Garden television series. His research focus is on new crops for the garden, greenhouse, and field.
