Field Identification Techniques


This course is designed to equip students with the skills to identify plants in the field.  You will see a variety of floral structures, learn to recognize reliable family characteristics, and develop familiarity with botanical Latin, advancing from using amateur field guides to using professional keys.  Designed for students who have taken Wildflowers of New England or have previous experience identifying wildflowers, the course will help increase your confidence and skill in field identification.  Please bring a hand lens and a bag lunch if appropriate.  Information on required texts will be sent upon registration.
