Survey of New England Ferns

This course is geared to people with some previous experience with ferns who want to gain knowledge of the whole group in this region.  We will review many of the 68 ferns that are native to New England.  Discussion includes projected photographs and frond silhouettes, and an explanation of field identification techniques.  We’ll practice by visiting selected sites on the property to identify live ferns.  Please bring a hand lens and a bag lunch.  Recommended text is the newly revised Peterson Guide, A Field Guide to Ferns.
