In generations past, children spent their days wandering the out-of-doors and enjoyed learning botany along the way. Join two book aficionados who would love to share their favorite children’s books from the Society’s impressive collection in the Lawrence Newcomb Library. See rare books illustrating wildflowers, ferns, and woody plants-- wonderful children’s books any adult would love, including Mrs. William Starr Dana’s Plants and their Children, E.M. Hardinge’s With the Wild Flowers from Pussy Willow to Thistledown (subtitled a Rural Chronicle of our Flower Friends and Foes), and an original plant journal kept by a young girl early in the last century. Conclude with tea and scones in the library.
