Scientists now consider our residential backyards the "final frontier" in providing essential habitat for at-risk pollinator species that are vital to environmental health and healthy natural landscapes. Learn about the best plants to help feed and shelter butterflies, bees, moths, and hummingbirds and how to encourage biodiversity in your backyard with just a few changes in your landscaping practices. Butterfly identification, life-cycles and ecology are also a focus during the morning session. After lunch, take a walk looking for pollinators at work in the Garden at peak mid-summer bloom, as well as those pollinators who might be enjoying our special exhibit of creative container gardening for pollinators, "Native Buzz." Extensive handouts provided. Bring a bag lunch; drinks and dessert provided.
