Learn how to use a variety of carefully chosen conifers—especially dwarf and miniature species—to provide color, texture, and structure in all seasons. In the spring, conifers exhibit shades of red, purple, pink, yellow and chartreuse. As summer changes to fall, the foliage tempers into lush greens, silvers, blues, limes, and golds. In drab winter months, a rainbow of colored foliage trimmed with snow reassures us that spring will return. Meanwhile, throughout the year, flower arrangers can select fern-like, needled, or lacey ‘greens’ in many shades. Plan time after the talk to see the dwarf and miniature conifer display in the new WCBG Education Garden as well as mature full-sized conifers nearby.
