Ferns in the Wild and in Your Garden

Ferns in the Wild

Nothing evokes serenity and "naturalizes" a landscape like a glade of ferns. They also provide dependable season-long greenery and, for the patient gardener, are easy to establish. This workshop introduces the common native ferns appropriate for different soil and light conditions. Learn field identification keys, become familiar with the fascinating natural history of ferns, and see how to integrate them into various landscape settings. After a morning session inside, walk the Arboretum to discover the ferns along the way. Bring a bag lunch and a hand lens if you have one.
