Ferns of Estabrook Woods

No

No

This large woods on the north side of Concord, Massachusetts has more fern diversity than one might expect. The normal array of common ferns is augmented by rich swamp edges and as well as old limestone quarry pits.  Expect to see Massachusetts fern, Christmas fern, ebony spleenwort, fragile fern, and perhaps a couple of other calciphiles.  Some off-trail walking is involved, but not much climbing. Wear long pants, and bring insect repellent, a bag lunch, and a hand lens if you have one.
