Employing plants that attract butterflies and hummingbirds is an increasingly popular approach to home landscaping.  Both are attracted to blossoms that produce nectar, but access the nectar through slightly different means.  Join us to learn about the life cycles of our local butterflies as well as the best nectar plants to grow our area.  We’ll introduce the idea of host plant gardens, attracting butterfly larvae to your garden.  During the second meeting Ted and Bill will consult with class members on their individual garden plans.  On Saturday field trips we’ll see the plants in bloom and view many butterfly species. At Nasami Farm we will tour the greenhouses and learn about the NEWFS' native plant propagation program. The final field trip will also feature a hummingbird banding demonstration.
