Explore Cliff Pond and Little Cliff Ponds at Nickerson State Park, two beautiful kettle ponds formed when the glaciers retreated thousands of years ago. Hike the three-mile trail around Cliff Pond looking for typical pond shore species and some species only found at kettle ponds. These include pink tickseed, sweet pepperbush, St. John’s wort, goldenrods, wintergreen, highbush blueberry, various grasses, and pickerel weed, among others. Bring a bag lunch, water, hand lens, field guides, insect repellent, and a swim suit if you like, although there are no changing facilities
