This class provides the necessary framework to identify New England's fern and fern allies, including clubmosses, firmosses, horsetails, grapeferns, moonworts, and the many genera of true ferns. Participants will learn specialized vocabulary for describing leaves, stems, and reproductive structures. Classes include illustrated presentations, guided keying of specimens, and field study. Bring a lunch, a hand lens, and appropriate field clothing.
