Our local flora contains a large number of plants that Native Americans used for their daily living.  This special hands-on exploration of useful wild plants is designed for interested teens and adults.  Join botanist and primitive skills specialist Arthur Haines to sample wild food, make cordage, and learn about some of the many useful products that can be made with local plants.  Arthur will demonstrate friction fire-making using plant materials common to our woods and fields.  As we hike around Montshire’s outdoor trails, we’ll encounter plants and their interesting stories, and we’ll begin to appreciate the importance of the wild flora for human survival.  Come prepared to be outside under all conditions.
