Discover methods of identifying woody plants in the winter by their twigs. Certain characteristics seen on twigs provide powerful clues to a plant’s identity. Other indications include remaining leaves, infructescences, and bark. We’ll start in the classroom with color images, guided keying of specimens, and a field walk to round out the day. Bring a lunch and dress for the weather (snowshoes will not be necessary).
