Squam Lake Aquatics by Canoe or Kayak
This beautiful lake has nesting loons, bald eagles, and 65 miles of nearly pristine shoreline interspersed with 100+ year-old camps. The most famous of these is Rockywold-Deephaven Camp, where we launch our craft for Five Finger Point, a UNH property complete with 400-year-old black gum swamps, a loon nest, exceptional views of an eagle nest, rare plants, and diverse aquatic vegetation. At Five Finger Point, stop for lunch to see these ecological gems first-hand and the intrepid participant can skin-dive to look at rare aquatic vegetation. Although the dive is optional, a recommended swim in Squam Lake during lunch is not soon to be forgotten! Bring appropriate water, lunch, and gear for being out all day. When registering, please let us know if you would like breakfast at the camp before the trip ($10) and/or a boat rental ($40).
