Farmhouse Landscape Design: Refinement and Simplicity
This special property has all the components of the quintessential rural New England “farmhouse” landscape–stonewalls, apple orchards, kitchen and herb gardens, open fields, mature sugar maples, and a farmhouse. But what sets it apart is the level of refinement, which includes a sunken formal garden, a pool and tennis court, an American chestnut orchard, stone hardscaping, and a native wildflower meadow. Join landscape designer Jim McSweeney for an in-depth look at his client’s unusual property, which he and his crew have maintained for six years. Jim is nearing completion of a new two year project. In this on-site seminar, Jim will discuss several components of the design including: the plans, plants, structures, cultural conditions, problem sites, hardscapes, and the balance between form and function. This on-site seminar will be of interest to both home gardeners and professional designers.
