The specialized collection of thousands books in the fields of botany, plant ecology, conservation, natural history and related horticultural subjects includes wildflower or native plant field guides for many parts of the USA, Canada, and certain foreign countries. There are numerous reference books and popular works on starting or improving a native plant garden. Information can be found about wetlands plants, rare and endangered plants, edible, medicinal and poisonous plants, even weeds. The newsletters and journals of most of the other native plant societies in the country are available in collections dating back many years. New works are frequently added.

There is an affiliated Slide Library with slide sets for rent or sale.
