A tranquil refuge to delight the eye, expand the mind, nurture the soul and commune with the natural world, Tower Hill Botanic Garden is a year-round living museum of plants. Tower Hill is owned and operated by the Worcester County Horticultural Society, founded in 1842, with its mission to “advance the science and encourage and improve the practice of horticulture.” The 132-acre site features formal and informal style gardens, meadows, woodland trails and a panoramic view of Mt. Wachusett and the Wachusett Reservoir to the west. More than 70,000 visitors annually partake of Tower Hill’s beauty, and several thousand participate in educational classes and programs offered by Tower Hill staff and inv
ited lecturers.
Tower Hill Botanic Garden welcomes New England Wild Flower Society members during the week of August 14-22, when Tower Hill will waive the usual admission fee upon presentation of a valid New England Wild Flower Society membership card. Tower Hill is open Tuesday through Sunday, from 10am-5pm, and Wednesday evening until 8pm. Tower Hill offers guided tours of the Garden on Sundays at 2 p.m., and during this special week will also offer a tour on Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. New England Wild Flower Society members will also enjoy a 10% discount on their purchases in the Shop at Tower Hill during this week only.
On Saturday & Sunday of this week, August 21-22, Tower Hill will host the 75th Anniversary New England Unit of the Herb Society of America Herb Show. Discover the fascinating world of herbs at this fantastic show; visitors will have the opportunity to see educational displays on the use and culture of medicinal and culinary herbs, participate in demonstrations by herb experts, and purchase herb plants and herbal products.
