2008  Calendar Selections of New England Wild Flower Society

 

FRAMINGHAM, MA ▬ New England Wild Flower Society announces the 2008 Calendar including the return of David Rogers’ BIG BUGS exhibit and web-of-life extravaganza July 12-October 31, 2008 to Garden in the Woods in Framingham, MA.  Join us for an exciting roster of programs and events throughout the year and festivals during the exhibit, all supporting the Society’s efforts to protect New England’s native plants and their habitats-our natural heritage. All programs are fee-based unless otherwise noted. Please also note changes in Garden in the Woods hours and fee schedule:  The trails and nursery are open 9-7 from April 15 through September 1, and 9-5 September 2 - October 31, 2008. WEEKDAY tours daily at 10:00 a.m.; WEEKEND tours at 2:00 pm, no reservations needed. Admission: $8 adults; $6 senior (65+) and students with ID; $4 youths 3-18; Children under three and members FREE. Informal tours included with admission, no reservations required.  Reserve group and cart tours with Bonnie Drexler at bdrexler@newenglandwild.org. The Society’s Nasami Farm Nursery & Sanctuary in Whately, MA is open 10-5 Thursday-Sunday from April 17-June 8, 2008, reopening for fall September 4 through Sunday October 5, 2008. Aug 2-3     BIG BUGS BEE WEEKEND Meet beekeepers, watch a working hive of honeybees, and try some wildflower honey.

Aug 7-8     Basic Wetland Identification and Delineation – Foundation in wetland identification, field work.

Oct 25-26 BYE BYE BUGS WEEKEND Vote for your favorite bug and make a goodbye card.

Oct 31     BIG BUGS FINAL DAY

Nov 1       FALL GARDENING SYMPOSIUM -  EXTENDING THE GARDEN IN TIME AND SPACE, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Sheraton Framingham Hotel & Conference Center. A new symposium for gardeners, horticulturists, and environmentalists, co-sponsored by New England Wild Flower Society, Arnold Arboretum, and Wellesley College Friends of Horticulture. Four expert speakers; Virginia Small, John Greenlee, Stephanie Cohen, and Nancy Rose. An author book signing will follow the talks.
