Federal Endangered Species Act

last modified April 10, 2008

Please help save rare species now

Ask your Congress member to cosponsor the Endangered Species Recovery Act. Call the Capitol Switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and ask for your Congress member's office.

With a new bill, the Endangered Species Recovery Act (S. 700/H.R. 1422), Congress  has a great opportunity to help at-risk wildlife. This legislation will put into place financial incentives for private landowners to help save endangered plants and animals. It will  provide $400 million annually in new tax credits and deductions for landowners who take steps to help wildlife on their property. The Senate has already passed the companion bill, S. 700, in the Senate Farm Bill tax package. Now is the time to move this important piece of legislation forward.

It is critical that we strengthen wildlife populations and ecosystems today so they can survive the growing threat of global warming.
